You seem like a great school leader! I hope that my principal has similar goals :)

Really appreciate your openness in sharing your first "stop"—I think this is one of the things that bothers me most about teachers who are more active on social media, and the very-real example you generously offered from your own life would be a welcome reminder to other teachers that the consequences of negative shares re: student behavior online can be very real.

I know you're very disciplined and overwhelmingly positive, and providing that example therefore meant even more to encounter. Reaffirmed my own conviction! (Also: closing that laptop on a project and getting to sleep is so hard but so important, too!)

Thanks for sharing these reflections overall!

Thanks, Marcus. Yes, that incident has forever changed my thinking about sharing supposedly “safe” content about students. We have to assume that our parent communities are always watching and connecting the dots.

I have deep admiration for your work, Marcus. For you and for anyone else following this thread, there is absolutely no one in education sharing deeper, richer, more reflective examples from their practice on X (or anywhere else) than this man. Keep it up, sir.

Yes on that first stop! I completely get that impulse to share - sometime student misbehavior is so ridiculous that it's hard to NOT share, but I'm seeing more and more of it online and I cringe every time. I love your reflections on this.
